To reduce occurrence of a burr at the edge of a groove part more than before in a grooving method for grooving a work piece.
According to a grooving method, a work piece is cut by a cutting tool to form a groove having an opening angle of 100° or smaller in the work piece. The method has a one side deviation machining process for grooving with the center line of the cutting tool having the shape corresponding to the groove shifted to a position deviated to one side from the center line of the groove, the other side deviation machining process for grooving with the center line of the cutting tool shifted to a position deviated to the other side from the center line of the groove after the above process, and a finishing process for finishing with the center line of the cutting tool aligned with the center line of the groove after the above process.
