Title:
GUIDE TUBE STRUCTURE FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC FLUX CONCENTRATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001241858
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To increase an electromagnetic field and resultant electromagnetic flux in a guide tube without substantially changing a design of the copper guide tube inside a metal refining apparatus.

The guide tube structure for electromagnetic flux concentration (22) comprises a central orifice (32) extending from a source of metal for directing a stream of melt therethrough to an outlet in the discharge guide tube, a structure generating the electromagnetic field in the discharge guide tube, and an interior discharge guide tube flux concentration configuration capable of concentrating at least one of heat, the electromagnetic field, and the electromagnetic flux onto the stream of the melt flowing through the central orifice, wherein the electromagnetic field is applied at a substantially constant level.
