PURPOSE: To obtain a cosmetic capable of imparting moistness to the hair without damaging the softness-imparting effect of a cationic surfactant by using a cationic surfactant such as a quaternary ammonium salt in combination with a fatty acid ester of glucose and/or an alkyl glucoside.

CONSTITUTION: The objective cosmetic can be produced by compounding (A) 0.1-10wt.% (especially 0.5-3wt.%) of a compound of formula I [R1 or R1 and R2 are 10-24C alkyl, alkenyl, hydroxyalkyl or group of formula II (R is 10-24C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; n is 1-10); R2 to R4 or R3 and R4 are 1-3C alkyl, group of formula III (R5 is H or CH3; m is 1-5), benzyl or cinnamyl; X is halogen or alkylsulfate group] and/or a mono-N-long-chain acyl basic amino acid lower alkyl ester salt and (B) 0.01-20wt.% (especially 0.1-10wt.%) of a fatty acid ester of glucose or an alkyl glucoside having a 1-4C alkyl group and preferably having a monoester content of ≥90wt.%.
