To provide a hair dryer the length of which is made as short as possible.
One end of a housing 1 is formed as an air-intake port 11, and the another end thereof is formed as an air exhaust port 12. A net-like air-intake port cover 4 is detachably attached to the air-intake port 11, and an ion generation unit (function unit) 5 is attached to an inside surface of the air-intake port cover 4. The ion generation unit 5 is disposed in a direction with which a length of the housing 1 in a longitudinal direction thereof becomes the shortest. A length occupied by the ion generation unit 5 in a longitudinal direction of the housing 1 becomes the shortest to enable shortening the length of the hair dryer. A structure for detaching the ion generation unit 5 becomes unnecessary, so the hair dryer is prevented from becoming complicated. The ion generation unit 5 is arranged on an extended line of a rotary axis of an axial fan (blower) 3, so a flow rate blocked by the ion generation unit 5 is minimized.
