To provide a hand device capable of accelerating the speed of a workpiece holding operation by detecting a relative position between a workpiece and a hand part by a comparatively simple constitution.
The hand device 400 with a position detection function is constituted by adding a position detection device 10 to a hand 450 of a robot arm 200. The position detection device 10 includes a light source 11 for detecting a position provided with a plurality of light emitting elements 12 to emit position detection light L2 toward a detection region 10R and forms the intensity distribution of the position detection light L2 in the detection region 10R. Position detection light L3 reflected in the detection region 10R is received by a light detection device 30. Based on the received light result, a position detecting part 50 detects a relative position between the workpiece Ob and the hand 450.
