To provide a mold having high quality porous surface to overcome a conventional problem wherein, in order that a functional component etc. made of a material such as plastic, rubber or paper and completed by molding by a mold obtains a surface suitable for the function, a conventional mold is made by an expensive special cutting method or an expensive special plating surface processing, with the porous surface of the mold unsatisfied.
A lightweight and highly wear-resistant mold having an anodic oxidized coating and having sufficient porosity suitable to commodity function is obtained by changing a mold base material from iron to an ultrahard aluminum-based material and subjecting the mold to high alumite treatment. A high grade molded article is manufactured by the mold.
