Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the objective plastic excellent in transparency, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, solvent resistance and hardness by forming a specified film on the surface of a plastic material.
CONSTITUTION: A melt of a low-melting glass having a softening point of desirably 100-300°C, desirably an Sn-Pb-P-F-O glass having an Sn/P ratio of 1.0-2.0 and a concentration of added Pb of 1wt.% or above is applied to the surface of desirably a plastic material (e.g. polycarbonate sheet) to form a film of the melt of the low-melting glass, and this film is cooled to form a coating film of the low-melting glass on the surface of the above material.
