Title:
HEAT INSULATING FILM HAVING RESISTANCE AGAINST EROSION AND IMPACT BY GRANULAR MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3825114
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating film suitable for a product which is exposed to a severe thermal environment and erosion by particles and dust such as a turbine, combustor and augmenter parts of a gas turbine engine.
SOLUTION: This heat insulating film 20 consists of a metal adhesive layer 26 deposited on the surface of a product, a ceramic layer 30 which covers the adhesive layer 26, and an erosion-resistant compsn. 24 dispersed in the ceramic layer 30 or covering the ceramic layer 30. The adhesive layer 26 acts to firmly adhere the heat insulating ceramic layer 30 to the product. The erosion-resistant compsn. 24 improves the durability of the ceramic layer 30 against impact and erosion. The erosion-resistant compsn. 24 is either alumina (Al2O3) or silicon carbide (SiC). The ceramic layer 30 is preferably a yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) deposited by physical vapor deposition so as to produce a columnar crystal grain structure.
