PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a fault of a fixing device by making a processing part judge whether a device main body shows a specified rate of temperature change and externally outputting a signal in accordance with the judged result.
SOLUTION: AC power source voltage from a commercial power source 13 is rectified and smoothed in a constant-voltage power source 12, and DC voltage is controlled in terms of pulse width modulation so as to supply fixed voltage to a heater. A CPU 11 controls the energizing of the power source 12 based on data on the temperature of the fixing device from a temperature detection element 268 in the fixing device 26. Especially, it detects the temperature at the time of starting energizing and measures timing that the temperature of the fixing device shows an upper limit value so as to judge normality or abnormality. Such fault detection processing is executed just after starting energizing an image forming device. Then, the CPU 11 gives a display part 14 information that the image forming device is in the midst of printing at present or that it is a state where the fault is caused, and the display part 14 displays a mark or a character in accordance with the information.
