To solve a conventional structure in a hermetically sealed compressor, which structure has caused deteriorated performance because a discharge hole is assembled at a position where a discharge hole and an inside wall of a cylinder overlaps, a cross-sectional area of a cooling medium passage is reduced, and as a result, the reduced area is large resistance when a cooling medium gas goes out of the discharge hole.
A helical groove is provided in part where the cylinder abuts on the discharge hole in the cylinder. The helical groove is provided in part with which the discharge hole is communicated on a main end plate or an auxiliary end plate where the discharge holes are provided. A minimum cross-sectional area of a space that is surrounded by the helical grooves is set to be equal to or larger than the cross-sectional area of the discharge hole.
