Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent a cut surface from generating a burr and whiteness cutting a workpiece being accompanied with no residual stress by arranging the work piece between the first and second electrodes to be heated by dielectric heating thereafter cutting the workpiece. CONSTITUTION:A cut workpiece 6 is arranged between the first electrode (cutter electrode) connected to a high frequency power source 4 and the second elec trode (plate-shaped electrode) 2 set to earth potential, and dielectric heating is performed preferentially from a surface side of the workpiece brought into contact with the first electrode 1. Next setting the first electrode 1 to the earth potential while connecting the high frequency power source 4 to the second electrode 2, the workpiece 6 is heated by the dielectric heating preferentially from its reverse side brought into contact with the second electrode 2, and the workpiece 6 generates an average gradient of temperature, heating the total unit almost to a uniform temperature. Hereafter, the workpiece 6 is cut in a softened condition of high temperature by a cutting edge of the first elec trode 1. Thus by performing a cutting process after the first and second dielec tric heating processes, the workpiece 6 can be cut being accompanied with no residual stress further generating no whiteness.
