To secure safety of a product by preventing melting of components in a heating chamber even when a user operates a high frequency heating device by setting an optional time.
This high frequency heating device comprises a temperature detecting means 5 for detecting a temperature of food in the heating chamber 1 in non-contact state, a high frequency generating means 14 generating high frequency and heating the food in the heating chamber, and a control portion 7 controlling the high frequency heating means on the basis of the output from the temperature detecting means. The control portion is constituted to perform the control to lower an output level of the high frequency transmitting means when a temperature from the temperature detecting means becomes higher than a prescribed value in a menu for executing high frequency heating for a set time when the user sets the optional time and inputs a cooking starting operation, and resin components and ceramic components in the heating chamber can be protected so that they do not melt by lowering the output level of the high frequency heating when the temperature from the temperature detecting means becomes higher than the prescribed value.
