Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the high-input optical fiber having high long-term reliability and the process for production of its base material. CONSTITUTION:The dopant concn. of the core and clad of the optical fiber consisting of the core and the clad enclosing the core changes in the axial direction of the optical fiber and the relative refractive index distribution standardized by the max. refractive index of the core is kept always constant within the section in the arbitrary position in the axial direction of the optical fiber. The threshold value of generation of an induced Brillouin scattering is increased by changing the dopant concn. in the axial direction of the optical fiber to intensity the light which can be made incident on the optical fiber. Consequently, the transmission distance is greatly increased.
