Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a WC particle dispersed Ni-based alloy excellent in corrosion and wear resistances and ensuring satisfactory strength by specifying a compsn. consisting of B, Si, Mo, WC and Ni.

CONSTITUTION: This WC-particle dispersed Ni-based alloy consists of, by weight, 0.6-3% B, 0-6% Si, 3-35% Mo, 10-70% WC and the balance Ni and is fit for a machine member requiring corrosion and wear resistances and strength at the same time. This alloy is obtd. as follows; prescribed amts. of B, Si, Mo, Ni and WC powders or a prescribed amt. of powder of their alloy is pulverized, mixed and compacted and the resultant compact is sintered at a relatively low temp. of about 1,000-1,120°C in vacuum. Since the sintering temp. is low, the objective combined material is formed without deteriorating steel by metallurgically bonding this alloy to the steel simultaneously with sintering.
