Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a Zr alloy excellent in corrosion resistance, especially general corrosion resistance.

CONSTITUTION: Hot working is carried out after β-treatment, cold working and process annealing are repeated and final annealing is carried out after final cold working to produce a Zr alloy. In this method, at least process annealing before final cold working is carried out at ≥750°C and the objective highly corrosion resistant Zr alloy is produced. When the degree of concn. by which the aggregated texture of an alloy is oriented in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the alloy is represented by Kearns' concn. degree factor fR, the fR value of (0001) faces on the surface of this Zr alloy is ≤0.60.
