In a gasket composed of a sheet having a coating on a side edge 71 formed nearly transverse to two flat surfaces opposed to each other having inside and outside faces 15, 30, a wide coating 16 projected for about 0.025 mm outward from the faces 15, 30 is formed in a parallel direction with a side edge 71. The coating 16 is made of acrylate resin or acrylonitrile for tightly enclosing oil or gear lubricant, or chloroprene polymer, and the like. A sheet for forming the gasket may be made of a porous raw material capable of compressing.
