Abstract:

To obtain a recording material which is excellent in ink absorption and water resistance, is usable not only for uses in which surface images are viewed but for uses in optical apparatuses in which light transmitted through recorded images are utilized, such as a slide projector, an OHP, and a tight- contact printer, and is suitable for ink-jet recording.

This polymer comprises a copolymer obtained from 20-60wt.% hydrophobic vinyl monomer having a solubility at 20°C in 100g water of 10g or lower, 1-30wt.% cationic hydrophilic vinyl monomer, and 10-79wt.% nonionic hydrophilic monomer. The recording material comprises a nonporous substrate and a coating film of this polymer.
