To obtain a highly water-absorbing/antibacterial sheet excellent in persistency of antibacterial effect by the establishment of highly water absorbing polymer layer on one surface of a nonwoven fabric cloth or the interface of nonwoven fabric cloths containing an inorganic antibacterial agent.
This sheet is produced according the following procedure; a web is obtained by piling up previously fibrillated pulp fiber on the transferring mesh conveyer by air-laying, spraying an acrylic emulsion binder formulated with 0.1-5wt.% of an inorganic antibacterial agent 14 of 0.1-5μm particle size having silver included in zirconium phosphate crystal, drying to bind the each fibers consisting the web and the antibacterial agent with consisting fibers and obtaining a nonwoven fabric cloth 12 containing 0.3-5wt.% of antibacterial agent based on the weight of nonwoven fabric cloth. The highly water-absorbing/antibacterial sheet is obtained by establishing a highly water-absorbing polymer layer 13 such as a salt of polyacrylic acid on one side of the surface or interface of the antibacterial nonwoven fabric cloths.
