To provide a hinge device capable of preventing backlash from occurring between a transmitting-side casing and a receiving-side casing of a cellular phone over a long period of time.

Plane parts 5f, 5f extending in parallel with a rotating axis L are formed in an outer peripheral surface of a fixed member 5 secured to the receiving-side casing (not shown) in such a manner that the fixed member is stationary with respect to the receiving-side casing. A metallic cam member 8 is formed with a flat plate part 8a extending in parallel with the rotating axis L and generally making contact with the plane part 5f. By engaging the flat plate part 8a with an inner peripheral surface of the receiving-side casing, the cam member 8 is irrotationally connected to the receiving-side casing.
