To provide a tension adjusting device capable of easily push-contracting a hydraulic automatic tensioner for adjusting tension of an auxiliary machine driving belt in an installation state, without damaging the hydraulic automatic tensioner in its contraction work.
Adjusting force of the hydraulic automatic tensioner 10 energized in the extending direction by a return spring 18 and absorbing a shock by a hydraulic damper 30, is applied to a pulley arm 6 supporting a tension pulley 8. A fulcrum shaft 41 is arranged in an eccentric position to the rocking center of the pulley arm 6, and a boss 42 having the outer periphery of a square shape is rotatably fitted, and its boss 42 is energized toward the pulley arm 6 by an elastic member 44. The hydraulic automatic tensioner 10 is contracted by arranging a torque limiter 50 between the boss 42 and the pulley arm 6, and when rotational torque applied to the boss 42 from a wrench T exceeds a preset value of the torque limiter 50, the boss 42 is idly rotated by releasing joining of the boss 42 and the pulley arm 6, and excessive pushing-in force is prevented.
