To solve a problem that, in a hoist with double brakes which uses a brake drum and a brake disk, since two brake means of a drum brake means and a disk brake means are necessary for the hoist, the hoist is liable to be enlarged, and it is difficult to arrange the two brake means.

This hoist 1 with the double brake comprises a drum brake 5 which is composed of a brake drum 3 fitted to a rotary shaft 2 of a motor and a drum braking means 4 for braking the brake drum 3, and a disk brake 8 which is composed of a brake disk 6 having a diameter larger than that of the brake drum 3 and a disk braking means 7 for braking the brake disk 6. The drum braking means 4 and the disk braking means 7 are arranged opposite to each other outside the brake drum 3.
