Abstract:

To provide a hollow fiber membrane type medical instrument, capable of effectively preventing dielectric breakdown in an electron beam sterilization process.

The hollow fiber membrane type medical instrument includes a cylindrical container 9, a bundle of hollow fiber membranes 3, installed along the length of the cylindrical container 9, of which ends are fixed to both ends of the cylindrical container 9, potting resin 8 holding and fixing the bundles of hollow fiber membranes 3 at both ends of the cylindrical container 9, headers 2 and 2' provided on both end parts of the cylindrical container 9 to face both end surfaces of the hollow fiber membranes 3, each having a nozzle for an inlet/outlet for fluid, ports 6 and 7 provided on side surface parts of the cylindrical container 9 to be an inlet/outlet for fluid, nozzle caps detachable from the nozzles 4 and 5, and port caps detachable from the ports 6 and 7. The port cap includes a part composed of high polymer material having a volume resistance ratio of 5×1013 Ω cm or smaller, and is irradiated with an electron beam.
