Abstract:
To solve a problem of complexity in which a cutting end point is detected and calculated.SOLUTION: A horizontal band saw machine 1 comprises: a fixed vice jaw 27 which fixes workpiece W; and a cutting head 9 which cuts the workpiece W while descending along a guidepost 31 linearly extending in a vertical direction. The cutting head 9 includes: a housing 33 in which a drive wheel 43 and a driven wheel 45 are respectively and rotatably arranged; and an endless band saw blade 47 which bridges between the drive wheel 43 and the driven wheel 45. When cutting the workpiece W by the band saw blade 47 between the drive wheel 43 and the driven wheel 45, a center of the drive wheel 43 is positioned above a center of the driven wheel 45, and the housing 33 linearly moves in the vertical direction along the guidepost 31. A fixed vice reference Rb which is a vertical surface where the fixed vice jaw 27 fixes the workpiece W is shared with a cutting end point Pc where the band saw blade 47 finishes cutting of the workpiece W.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
