To permit the exchange of a transfer tape only, manufacture inexpensively and facilitate the suspending operation of the transfer tape across a horizontal drawing type transfer head, in a refill type transfer instrument.

A cylindrical or column type rotation starting unit 6, equipped with a screw groove 7, is formed integrally with the inner end of a transfer head 5 for pushing a transfer tape 16 against the surface of a paper. The transfer head 5 is supported so as to be capable of being advanced and retreated by guide means 8, 9 provided in a case main body 1 so as to be projected and equipped with a projection 10 engaged with the screw groove 7. By an operating means 11, guided by a slit 13 bored in the case main body 1 in the fore-and-rear direction and having an abutting part abutted against the rear end of the rotation starting unit 6, the transfer head 5, retracted into the case main body 1, is advanced to the using position at the outside of the case main body 1 while being turned by 90°.
