Abstract:

To enhance the metal coating scraping force (the wiping force) by suppressing spread of a main jet of a gas wiping nozzle, reducing the energy losses, reducing the splash scattering, and preventing any edge overcoat.

In the hot-dip metal coated steel strip manufacturing method for controlling the thickness of a coated metal by blowing gas from a gas wiping nozzle on a surface of a steel strip to be continuously pulled up from a hot dip metal coating bath, there is provided a main nozzle for mainly ejecting gas to control the thickness of the coated metal, and a sub nozzle which is provided at least on one of an upper part and a lower part of the main nozzle, and inclined with respect to the ejecting direction of gas to be ejected from the main nozzle to eject gas at a lower speed than the gas ejected from the main nozzle. Gas in a vicinity of the gas wiping nozzle is sucked by providing a suction port in a vicinity of the gas wiping nozzle, foreign matters are removed from the sucked gas, and the gas with the foreign matters removed therefrom is ejected from the sub nozzle.
