A hybrid vehicle includes an driving motor 12 connected to an engine 11 and a driving wheel 10, and a setting switch 47 of an automatic speed controller that automatically maintains a constant vehicle speed and a distance between vehicles. During the motor traveling accompanied by a fuel cut, a crankshaft of the engine 11 directly connected to the motor 12 idles away to cause pumping loss and so on. Thus, if the vehicle is in the automatic traveling during the motor traveling, a throttle 23 is opened to reduce the pumping loss and improve the fuel consumption, and if it is not in automatic traveling, the throttle 23 is closed to improve the response.
