To provide a hybrid vehicle capable of realizing the effective use and the highly efficient operation of an inverter.
The hybrid electric vehicle includes a motor-generator 20 to generate alternating current or output the torque, a motor 25 for driving the vehicle, a diode rectifier 21 to rectify alternating the alternating current generated by the motor-generator 20, an inverter 23 connected to a feed circuit between the diode rectifier 21 and the motor 25 to convert the direct current in the feed circuit into the alternating current, a power supply 30 connected between the diode rectifier 21 and the inverter 23, a first feed circuit to supply the current to the motor 25 to drive the vehicle through the diode rectifier 21 and the inverter 23 in series, a second feed circuit (a second inverter 24, a relay switch 29, and a feed circuit 29b for operating a starter, etc.) to connect the motor-generator 20 with the power supply 30 while bypassing at least the diode rectifier 21, and an alternating current converter 24 provided in the second feed circuit.
