The rod guide 8 is composed of a press molded article 20 molded by pressing a plate material. And at the same time, at least a sliding face 20a with a piston rod 5 is composed by coating the sliding face 20a with a sliding synthetic resin layer 21. Accordingly, the drastic weight reduction can be achieved compared with the case of using a sintered housing. And at the same time, sufficient rigidity can be secured compared with the case of molding the whole of the rod guide with the synthetic resin for sliding. Moreover, further weight reduction can be achieved compared with the one to which a multi-layered sliding member is press-fitted.
