To inhibit coking and prolong life of a system for producing hydrogen and to provide a hydrocarbon oil having high production efficiency of the hydrogen with a small amount of produced carbon monoxide.
The hydrocarbon oil for producing the hydrogen of the system for producing the hydrogen comprises a carbon monoxide purifier arranged therein. The hydrocarbon oil is characterized as follows. The hydrocarbon oil contains a hydrocarbon substrate obtained by treating a specific hydrocarbon mixture as a raw material in a specified step and has ≤240°C 95 vol.% distillation temperature, ≤50°C difference between 95 vol.% distillation temperature and the initial boiling point, ≤0.5 mass ppm of sulfur content, ≥1.95 ratio of carbon to hydrogen, ≥40 vol.% of naphthene content, ≤1 vol.% of aromatic content and ≥210°C oxidation starting temperature.
