To propose a hydroforming apparatus and a hydroforming method which, even in mass production by hydroforming using a movable mold, can prevent damage to an edge portion of the movable mold and can prevent a trouble such as cracking due to an increased edge thickness.
The hydroforming apparatus comprises a stationary mold, a movable mold that slides in a cavity portion of the stationary mold, a means that simultaneously axially pushes a metal pipe end and the movable mold, and a means that applies an internal pressure to the interior of the metal pipe. At the portion of the movable mold that slides in the cavity of the stationary mold, the angle between a face where the metal pipe comes into contact with a hydroformed product formed by deforming the metal pipe and a face that slides against the cavity of the stationary mold is set to not less than 35° and not more than 55°. The hydroforming method is also provided.
