PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen generator capable of preventing a flame of a burner from extinguishing right after beginning to supply water for water reforming.SOLUTION: The hydrogen generator 1a includes: a raw material-supplying part 2 for supplying a raw material containing hydrocarbon; a water-supplying part 3 for supplying reforming water necessary for reforming reaction; an evaporating part 5 for evaporating the reforming water to generate steam; a reforming part 6 for producing product gas containing hydrogen by reforming reaction from the raw material and the steam; a water storage part 7 provided in a flow pass between the evaporating part 5 and the reforming part 6 and disposed downward in a vertical direction of an outlet part of the evaporating part 5; a burner 9 for heating the hydrogen generator 1a from inside by burning at least one of the raw material and the product gas; a controller 21 for controlling so as to begin to supply the reforming water from the water-supplying part 3 provided that a temperature of the water storage part 7 detected by a temperature sensor 8 of he water storage part is not higher than a first threshold temperature which is not higher than a boiling point of water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
