Title:
HYDROGEN SOURCE REFORMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03265501
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency in generating a reformed gas with a small- sized reformer by placing a combustion catalyst in a combustion cylinder and providing a means for preheating a low-temp. hydrogen source with a high-temp. waste combustion gas.

CONSTITUTION: A combustion catalyst 16 is held in the combustion chamber 15 of the combustion cylinder 12 of the reformer 11 to promote the combustion of a combustible gas. An insulating layer 27 is formed on the inner periphery of the combustion cylinder 12 to keep the inside of the chamber 15 warm. A heatexchange cylinder 28 is arranged around the combustion cylinder 12 with a gap in between, and a hydrogen source preheating tube 31 is laid in the gap. The hydrogen source is passed through the preheating tube 31 and moved toward a hydrogen source heating tube 33, hence heat is exchanged between the source and a high-temp. waste combustion gas, and the source is preheated. Plural reformed gas generating tubes 42 provided with a reforming catalyst 46 is connected to the heating tube 33. The source is reformed in the reformed gas generating tubes 42, and a reformed gas is generated.
