Title:
HYDROGEN STORAGE ELECTRODE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3827023
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a hydrogen storage electrode capable of retarding increase in internal pressure of a battery and having excellent charging/discharging characteristics by using alloy containing Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tu, Yb, and Sm in the constituting elements of hydrogen storage alloy.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrogen storage electrode is formed by using alloy containing at least one element selected from the group comprising Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tu, Yb, and Sm, preferably Er or Yb in the constituting elements of hydrogen storage alloy capable of reversibly absorbing/releasing hydrogen. The hydrogen storage alloy is preferable to have a rare earth element, Ni, Al, Co, and Mn as the main constituting elements. Preferably, the hydrogen storage alloy obtained is immersed in weak acidic solution or buffer solution to form a transition element layer whose main body is nickel on the surface, then used as the electrode. Thereby, high corrosion resistance is given to the alloy and the performance of the electrode is enhanced.
