Abstract:

To provide a hydrophilic coating method by which surfaces of various substrates are readily subjected to coating treatment having excellent hydrophilic functions and performances at a low cost and to obtain a hydrophilic medium subjected to the treatment.

The hydrophilic coating method comprises carrying out surface hydrophilization treatment by coating a resin, glass or a metal substrate with a solution or dispersion containing a polymer compound having a polyvinyl ether repeating unit structure. The hydrophilic medium subjected to the hydrophilization treatment is obtained. Preferably the solution or dispersion contains an organic solvent. Preferably the polymer compound is a block polymer.
