Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and economically reduce the vol. of various ash, such as incineration ash and dust collector ash, produced as an industrial waste, convert it into a nonpollutant, and recycle it by mixing it with an aluminum powder and a combustible medium and molding the resultant mixture into a solid rod. SOLUTION: A solid hypergolic fuel rod is prepd. by mixing ash comprising incineration ash and/or dust collector ash with an aluminum powder, a metal oxide powder, and a combustible medium. In this rod, the mixing ratio by wt. of the thermit reactants, i.e., the aluminum powder and the metal oxide powder, is generally set at (1:2)-(1:4). When an aluminum powder and a metal oxide powder are called a flux, the mixing ratio by wt. of the flux to ash is generally set at (1:1)-(1:4). When an aluminum powder and a metal oxide powder are called a flux, the mixing ratio by wt. of the flux, ash, and the combustible medium is generally set at (2:2:1)-(2:8:1).
