PURPOSE: To obtain a drain filter material excellent in drainage properties and refuse collecting properties by constituting a nonwoven fabric of a continuous long fiber composed of a hydrophobic resin and holding a surfactant on the surface of the long fiber.
CONSTITUTION: A nonwoven fabric constituting the drain filter material is constituted of a continuous long fiber. As a concrete example of the hydrophobic resin, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl chloride or polyester are designated. Further, the continuous long fiber used in the filter material has a surfactant on its surface. As the surfactant, there is no special limit but, when the filter material is used as a household one, the surfactant permitted as food additives, for example, propylene glycol fatty acid ester or sugar fatty acid ester is pref. from the aspect of safety. Especially, alkyl benzenesulfonate or succinic ester is effective because it can achieve required effect in small quantities.
