PURPOSE: To provide the electronic dictionary which can efficiently store dictionary information required for an operator in a storage means without lowering learning efficiency or regarding whether a memory card is mounted or not.

CONSTITUTION: This electronic dictionary is provided with a second storage means 17 to selectively store first language information retrieved by a retrieving means 15 and second language information corresponding to the first language information, and first control means 15 to selectively store the first language information or the information of a position for the first language information to be stored in a first storage means 16 and a pair of information composed of the first language information and the second language information corresponding to this first language information in the second storage means 17 in the case of selectively storing the first language information retrieved by the retrieving means 15 and the second language information corresponding to the first language information in the second storage means 17.
