Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an agent, comprising a sex pheromonal substance composed of Z-11- hexadecenal as a mating behavior disturbing agent for a male imago of Ancylomia japonica Zeller as an active ingredient and capable of disturbing the mating behavior of the Ancylomia japonica Zeller seriously damaging lawn, preventing individuals from proliferating and controlling the Ancylomia japonica Zeller. CONSTITUTION:The mating behavior disturbing agent for a male imago of Ancylomia japonica Zeller is obtained by collecting the Ancylomia japonica Zeller in the field and a sex pheromone is extracted from a virgin female with hexane, selecting Z-11-hexadecenal from the resultant extract and using the obtained Z-11-hexadecenal as an active ingredient. In using this mating behavior disturbing agent, other constituent ingredients of the extract and other insect sex pheromonal constituent ingredients may be added thereto. A suitable amount of an antioxidant such as butylhydroxytoluene or an ultraviolet light absorber may be added to the agent. Since this mating behavior disturbing agent is capable of sustaining the release of the Z-11- hexadecenal as the active ingredient for a long period, this disturbing agent is filled in a container such as a capillary composed of a plastic having the function to control the amount of the release such as polyethylene or polypropylene, a bag made of a laminate or a capsule.
