Bridged metallocenes of formulae R<6))(R<2>)M<1>-R<5>n-(R<3>)(R<4>)M<1>m-R<7>M< SP>2Cl2(V) and R<6))(R<2>)M<1>-R<7>M<2>Cl2 (VI) are new, except for the cpds. 1,1'-(dimethylsilanediyl)- bis-indenyl-MCl2 (with M = Hf or Zr); M<1> = Si or Ge; m = 0 or 1; n = 0 if m = 0; n = 0 or 1 if m = 1; R<1>-R<4> = H, 1-30 C alkyl, 2-10 C alkenyl, 6-10 C aryl, aryloxy or halogenated aryl, 7-40 C aralkyl or alkaryl, 8-40 C aralkenyl, 1-10 C alkoxy, 1-20 C haloalkyl, or halo; or R<1>+R<2> or R<3>+R<4> can form a ring; R<5> = 1-8 C alkylene, 6-10 C arylene, 7-40 C aralkylene or alkarylene, -O-(SiMe2O)p- (with p = 1-5), or a chalcogen atom; R<6>, R<7> = opt. substd. indenyl; M<2> = Zr or Hf.
