Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method to produce a high-quality stock oil for carbon black reduced in the formation of coke grits in a high yield by using tar pitch as a starting material.
CONSTITUTION: Tar pitch as a distillation residue of coal tar is subjected to a supercritical extraction treatment to remove quinoline-insolubles therefrom by mixing the tar pitch with an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent or an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent in an amount 0.5-5.0 times by weight as large as that of the tar pitch and subjecting the mixture to the conditions of a temperature from the critical temperature of the solvent to 370°C and a pressure from the critical pressure of the solvent to 100kg/cm2 G.
