PURPOSE: To save the size of data to be held by generating outline font data from a first information series obtained from a first storing part and second information obtained from the second storing part.
CONSTITUTION: A control information string holding part 1 and a compression contour data holding part 2 separate data which is held by a contour data holding part so as to hold it. A compression contour data analysis reproducing part 3 starts when it is instructed to output a character kind and outline font data by an external part, reads contour data of the character which is designated from the compression contour data holding part 2 and also transmits a reference mark existing in the data to a control information sequence acquiring part 4. Moreover, when the control information sequence corresponding to the reference mark is given through the part 4, the control information sequence is substituted and outline font data is reproduced through the use of contour data after the substitution. Therefore, information can be shared and the size of outline font data to be held is saved.
