To provide an ignition timing control device of an engine for controlling ignition timing of the engine, which prevents drivability from being degraded in switching between the ignition timing with the emphasis on torque and the ignition timing with the emphasis on fuel economy so as to improve driving condition.
The ignition timing control device 100 for the engine 22 includes: an ignition timing map 130 in which the ignition timing with the emphasis on torque is stored; and an ECU 106 which modifies the ignition timing with the emphasis on torque obtained from the ignition timing map 130 to fit the ignition timing with the emphasis on fuel economy. The ignition timing control device 100 further includes an advance angle target amount map 134 in which an advance angle target amount for modifying the ignition timing with the emphasis on torque to fit the ignition timing with the emphasis on fuel economy is stored. In the case of judging the operational state of a vehicle to be in a cruising condition with acceleration and deceleration minimized, the ECU 106 calculates the advance angle target amount for respective cylinders 46 of the engine 22 by means of the advance angle target amount map 134, and executes advance angle control in order to change the ignition timing of each of the cylinders 46 with respect to the advance angle target amount of each of the cylinders 46 in a stepwise fashion.
