Abstract:

To decrease useless retarded angle in ignition timing.

In a stationary state where an engine load is stable, on the basis of a basic ignition timing set according to an operating condition of the engine, ignition timing is controlled depending on whether or not a knocking occurs. The ignition timing is stored as a learnt value. When a variation of the load is equal to or larger than a determination value, the ignition timing is retarded further from the learnt value. The determination value is determined depending on the learnt value of the ignition timing.
