Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an image decoding method and its device to obtain an image with high resolution without increasing a circuit scale.
CONSTITUTION: A bit stream is read from a buffer memory 51 and a variable length decoder 20 applies variable length decoding to the bit stream, then an address of the buffer memory 51 including a macro block just above a macro block not decoded due to an error and a start code of a slice decoded once is read from a register 11. Then the bit stream in the buffer memory 51 corresponding to the address is read again and a motion vector of the macro block corresponding to the macro block just above not decoded due to the error is decoded again and the macro block not decoded is masked.
