Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately detect image density and color slippage at a low cost.
SOLUTION: A light quantity detection level by a 1st photodetecting part and a 2nd photodetecting part is previously adjusted so that a point of time when the quantity L1 of regularly reflected light becomes equal to the quantity L2 of diffused light may correspond to a point of time when the center of an irradiation area arrives on the boundary segment of an image, that is, so that the following equality may be established; light quantity difference Δ1=light quantity difference Δ2 shown in (A). Thus, by detecting the point of time when the quantity L1 becomes equal to the quantity L2, the time when the center of the irradiation area arrives on the boundary segment is detected. The color slippage of the image is detected based on the deviation of the arrival time. Besides, the ratio of the quantity L1 to the quantity L2 is calculated as the value corresponding to the density of the image based on the characteristic that the regularly reflected light quantity L1 is reduced and the diffused light quantity L2 is increased as the density of the image is made higher.
