To share area sensor for automatic focusing and image blurring detection by using the signal of the area sensor selected among the plural area sensors in accordance with a case when it is used for automatic focusing and a case for using it for image blurring detection.
The area sensors 1 and 2 are used for an image blurring detection sensor and an automatic focusing sensor. For using the area sensors 1 and 2 as the image blurring detection sensors, timing for A/D conversion is changed. Namely, data of either area sensor 1 or 2 is required for image blurring detection. Thus, An A/D converter 32 is operated only at timing when sensor output α from the area sensor 1 is given to the A/D converter 32 for detecting image blurring by using the output of the area sensor 1, for example, and the A/D converter 32 is in dead time at timing when the sensor output βfrom the area sensor 2 is given.
