To provide an image display device, an image display system and image output equipment with which image quality is not remarkably deteriorated by flicker even when a still image content is displayed and no displeasure is given to an observer by tearing even when a moving image content is displayed.
In the image display device 5 having an image formation means 21 and a control means 22, the control means 22 has a content decision part 113 which decides whether input image information is the moving image content or the still image content, and a refresh rate setting part 224 which sets refresh rate of an output image by the image formation means 21 to be synchronized with the rate of the moving image content when the image information is decided as the moving image content and sets the refresh rate of the output image by the image formation means 21 to be higher than the rate of the still image content when the image information is decided as the still image content.
