To provide an image distribution system which can perform image distribution efficiently.
When an information signal RS requesting image distribution is supplied from a client apparatus through a communication section 16, the clip control section 13 of an image distributor 10 sets a common area of minimum area size containing all request areas indicated by the image distribution request as a clip area, and delivers a control signal CTs for clipping the image of that clip area to a distribution image clip section 14. Further, distribution destination information JT indicating a client apparatus having requested image distribution as a distribution destination is supplied to a distribution processing section 15. The distribution image clip section 14 clips the image of clip area from the image and supplies it to the distribution processing section 15. The distribution processing section 15 generates a distribution signal DT for distributing the image of clip area to the client apparatus having requested image distribution and delivers the distribution signal through the communication section 16.
