PURPOSE: To remove magnetism remaining in an iron core portion or the like of a coil of a paper feed clutch when the connection of a paper feed clutch is released by instantaneously supplying reverse current to the paper feed clutch when the connection of a paper feed roller and a motor is released.

CONSTITUTION: There are provided a paper feed clutch 5 for suitably connecting a paper feed roller 4 and a motor to each other according to a designated timing and a control portion 6 for controlling an electric current supplied to the paper feed clutch 5. When the control portion 6 controls an electric current supplied to the paper feed clutch 5 to release the connection of the paper feed roller 4 and the motor, a reverse current is instantaneously supplied to the paper feed clutch 5.
