To provide an image formation system composed of an image forming apparatus and an information processing apparatus connected to a network, a system in which the occurrence of an operational abnormality of the image forming apparatus due to a character or a symbol inputted by a user is prevented and the user is prevented from being confused when inputting an operation or an instruction from the information processing apparatus such as a personal computer to the image forming apparatus.

The image forming apparatus is characterized by having a first judgement means for judging that setting is possible only when received setting contents do not violate rules preset to an item to which the setting contents are set, and a second judgement means for judging that setting is possible only when the received setting contents are composed of characters and symbols handleable for the image forming apparatus.
